Summary
Driver information may be displayed as “Unknown” in Fleet Position reports and event views for Volvo and other MultiBrand vehicles, even when driver details can be seen in Historical Tracking for the same timestamp.
This is a known system limitation related to how MultiBrand position data is received and processed.
Symptoms
Customers may report one or more of the following:
- Driver is shown as “Unknown” in:
- Fleet Position → Reports → Time Spent in Zone
- Fleet Position → Events (GeoZone events)
- Zone entry and exit timestamps are reported correctly.
- Historical Tracking shows the correct driver associated with the vehicle at the same time the geofence event occurred.
- The issue primarily affects Volvo and other non-Scania vehicles connected through MultiBrand integrations.
Cause
Fleet Position relies on data received from MultiBrand sources.
Due to a current technical limitation in the MultiBrand solution, driver information is not always included or available when GeoZone events are generated and processed. As a result, Fleet Position cannot associate a driver with the event and displays the value as “Unknown”.
Although driver information may be available in Historical Tracking, this data is not currently available to the affected Fleet Position views.
Affected Functionality
The limitation impacts:
- Fleet Position → Events (GeoZone events)
- Fleet Position → Reports → Time Spent in Zone
Affected Vehicles
- Volvo vehicles connected through MultiBrand
- Potentially other non-Scania vehicles using MultiBrand integrations
Resolution
There is currently no workaround or correction available within Fleet Position.
FleetControl has confirmed that this is a known limitation originating from the MultiBrand/Complete Fleet solution and cannot be resolved within Fleet Position.
A requirement will be raised towards the Complete Fleet team to make driver information available for these event flows in a future enhancement.
Support Guidance
When handling customer cases:
- Verify that the affected vehicle is a MultiBrand vehicle (for example Volvo).
- Confirm that the issue occurs in Time Spent in Zone reports or GeoZone Event views.
- Inform the customer that this is a known limitation and not a fault with the report itself.
- Do not create a Fleet Position defect unless there is evidence that the issue affects Scania vehicles or differs from the limitation described in this article.
- Link similar cases to the related problem record if applicable.
